The Regional Historical Museum is situated in the centre of Varna, next to the Varna Council building. The Museum occupies the old building of the Secondary School for girls in Varna.
In the museum is kept the oldest gold in the world – the treasure from the Varna Halocline Necropolis, dated IV centuries BC. It was found in 1972. From all 80 funerals that were dug out 6.5 kg of gold were collected in gold articles, created with a lot of taste and exquisiteness.
